last minute inspiration

It was feeding time at my house and I couldn't resist taking a picture. Or two. Or three. :)

Now here's Bailey. See that big fly in the corner?? Well....

...you guessed it! He's going to EAT it.

All of our cats all in a row! Notice how the the black and white ones eats out of two bowls. LOL.

Iced!

Mackie is one :)

Mackenzie - Age 1

My best friend's baby, Mackenzie, turned one last Sunday. Here are some some pictures of her and her friends. I am happy how some of them came out. Photographing kids is hard!!! They are always moving!

Obsessed!

I'm obsessed with Adobe Lightroom!! The deal is I don't really KNOW how to use it ...in the textbook sort of way. I click this and I click that until the picture looks the way I want it to. If you ask me "Hey, how did you DO that??", I would have no idea.

My latest obsession is black and white and color. I wanted to know how to do this for the longest time and I stumbled upon someone's blog and figured it out. Here are a few:

My friend Carrie - I did not take the picture but I took all color out except for the red in her lips and the pale pink cheeks.

Adriana Z - Blue Lake is the focus.

If you are curious to make a picture like this you go into Develop in Lightroom and go to the HCL/Color/Grayscale and take all the colors you want out all the way to 0 (saturation). The rest I couldn't tell you because like I say I just start clicking and moving things till it looks good.

A first photoshoot :) - Z Family

I finally got my first "serious" camera - my Nikon D40, affectionately named M&M in behalf of the purchasers - Mark and Margaret. Shortly after, I got to do my first photo shoot for the Z family. I was unnecessarily nervous being that Z is my ex boss but I think the pictures came out pretty good for the first time. The girls are very cute and as the shoot went on their personalities came out. Here are a few of the best. Thanks Z family for providing the practice. :)

The Z Family - Picture unedited.

Sisters - This picture not edited.

All Smiles..and sticks :) - Color enhanced in Adobe Lightroom

Sassy- Color enhanced in Adobe Lightroom

The Thinker - Edited in Adobe Lightroom

Her dad named it "The Evil Eye" but I personally thing there is nothing evil about her!! - Edited in Adobe Lightroom.

I love dad's expression here and the girls had a blast doing this shot. - Edited Adobe Lightroom.

Mother and Daughter - Gorgeous

My favorite out of all these pictures are the ones that were not so "posed". I still maintain that the best pictures are those that you just "happen" to capture. Personalities of the subject comes through loud and clear when you just wait patiently. We got the posing out of the way and let the girls go and do their thing (the two year old really needed it).

They won't think this shot is very funny later on - like when they are dating - but dad doesn't like to here about such things.

Check out the older sister's expression here. The girls were being real goofy with mom. They got it together after dad said the magic words - "Slurpee".

Get ready, Get set, GO!

nothing is as beautiful...

...as a newborn child. :) It was almost a year ago that my darling little niece Mackenzie was born. Technically she's not my niece rather my best friend Beebe's baby. This sweetie was only a week old when this picture was taken when she fit in her parents hand. Now you have to brace yourself to pick the child up. Ah but she's cute as ever. I will be taking her one year old pics pretty soon and will post them as soon as possible.

awesome dog

That's our Fred. He was barking at something and I managed to shoot this at the right time. I like the intense look of Fred as he dutifully guards our home.
